Beware of These Roads
- I-405 Freeway: Everyone knows about this highway; it’s even referred to as “The 405.” The highway travels 72 miles from the San Fernando Valley to Irvine. In 2017, there were 7 total fatalities in the stretch of the 405 in the city of Los Angeles.
- I-5 Freeway: The main freeway spanning the West Coast of the U.S., the 5 freeway sees numerous fatal accidents each year. The morning and night-time congestion lead the way to significant crashes and catastrophic injuries.
- Sierra Highway: When people encounter traffic on certain freeways, they look at alternate routes, and Sierra Highway is one of them. This stretch of highway goes throughout Los Angeles and into parts of surrounding counties, but there are nearly 3 fatal crashes per mile throughout Los Angeles County.
- I-10 Freeway: While the I-10 can take you across the entire country, there are sections in Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County that prove to be dangerous because of congestion and other problems.
Other dangerous roads in the county and surrounding counties include the 118, 138, Highway 14, and 710. Combined these roads make up hundreds of crashes each year, some of them resulting in fatal or catastrophic harm.
