What to Put in Your Evacuation Bag
If you have not yet been ordered to evacuate, now is the best time to put together an evacuation “go” bag. Leaving at a moment’s notice is of the utmost importance in wildfire situations. Keep a flashlight and a pair of shoes by your bed in case of a nighttime evacuation order.
- Food and water for three days
- Map with at least two evacuation routes marked
- Prescriptions or medications
- Medical devices
- A change of clothes
- Car keys, cash, credit cards
- First aid kit
- Flashlights and batteries
- Birth certificates, marriage certificates, passports, IDs
- Pet food and water
- Phone chargers
- Family photos, if time allows
- Comfort items for children, if time allows
Remember
Although sentimental items are important to your emotional well-being, evacuations are about survival, first and foremost. If you’ve been ordered to leave immediately, pack only the items that will help you and your family safe and healthy. Notify family and friends of your whereabouts whenever possible.

For Donors:
If you are unable to contribute your time or resources to the relief efforts surrounding the Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, and Hollywood Hills wildfires, becoming a financial donor to a boots-on-the-ground organization can benefit those most impacted by the fires. Whether it’s $5.00 or $100.00, any amount helps toward ensuring those who have been impacted by the California wildfires get access to the shelter, supplies, and food they need.
